But, yes, there is one big catch. Sadly, things are not always so easy, at least when it comes to transportation in this part of Costa Rica. Depending on the route, the trip from Tamarindo to Santa Teresa covers somewhere between 150 and 200 kilometres, so you may spend anywhere from 4 to 5 hours in the vehicle. And we know what you may be thinking, well, that is not too bad. But there is a big catch. In general, roads in Costa Rica can get extremely unpredictable, and you may end up dealing with everything from nicely paved roads and unpaved sections to real potholes and steep climbs. Also, depending on the time of the year you are coming, these conditions can become even more daunting, and in some sections, even extremely terrifying. Of course, we are not saying all of this to scare you, but to help you have clear expectations.
